FTRI Frequently Asked Questions
Do I qualify for a phone?
To receive a phone through the FTRI program you must:
1. Be a permanent resident of Florida.
2. Be at least 3 years old.
3. Be certified as having a hearing loss or speech impairment.
Can I just come in and get a phone?
No, due to the small size of our staff, and the paperwork involved in the program, phones are by appointment only. Otherwise we would not be able to serve nearly as many people. Please call us at 850-760-6890 to make an appointment.
Can I have more than one phone?
The rules of the FTRI program place a limit of one phone and one ringer per qualified resident. The administrators of the program do not allow us to make any exceptions to this.
I have a phone from the FTRI program, and it is broken, worn out, or no longer meets my needs. Can I get a replacement?
Yes, you will need to make an appointment, but there is a process in place to replace phones. There is still a limit of one phone per resident, so you will have to turn in the old phone in order to get a replacement.
I have already completed the paperwork and mailed it in. Can I just walk in and get my phone?
While it can speed up the process to complete the paperwork ahead of time, an appointment will still be necessary to ensure that a staff member will be available to give you the phone. Also in some cases, the phone may not be immediately available, as some models have to be placed on special order.
Where can I find more information on the FTRI program?
